July 08, 2010: GC Farms Hosts Local Chefs

Food Service professionals from around the country gathered in San Jose for the 2010 NACUFS Conference (National Assoc. of College & University Food Service). Focusing on, among other topics, sustainability, attendees were invited to a “Farm to Fork” dinner at GC Farms.

The dinner, an initiative to bring chefs and local farmers together, featured five executive Bon Apetit chefs from well-known bay area establishments like Yahoo, Santa Clara University, Mills College, the University of San Francisco, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. In the spirit of sustainability, the chefs used only local ingredients – many of which came from George Chiala Farms. Following the culinary extravaganza, the chefs and local farmers came together to answer questions. Michael Brinkman, Bob Hart, Jamie Dominguez, Jon Hall, and Dave Anderson were among the chefs present.
